Sam Johnson and Jody Rodgers share 11 things you might not know about the Casper Suite at the 2013 JAMF Nation User Conference

11 Things You Might Not Know about the Casper Suite

Sam Johnson, JAMF's Director of Support, has been enlightening and entertaining JAMF Nation User Conference attendees for the last couple of years with his "10 Things You Might Not Know About the Casper Suite" session. This year, his list went to 11 and he mixed things up by making it a competition: the audience's knowledge vs. that of Jody Rodgers. Jody, JAMF Software's new Product Manager, may have been at a slight disadvantage as he has only been a JAMF employee for a couple of months. But no excuses, this was a competition.

Some of the highlights of the 11 rounds included: JSS keyboard shortcuts (don't touch that mouse), some Terminal tricks including using jamf policy -verbose and jamf recon -displayJSSTraffic, multi-site users with local groups, Casper Focus URL web filtering, using Extension Attributes for LDAP Mappings, a JAMF Helper shell script, and using Notification Center messages. Sam also gave a "sneak" of per-device Users view in the JSS Web Interface. Obviously, the audience didn't know this one since it was a sneak and Jody did. It was the only one that he got right that the audience didn't.

Jody attempted mid-way through the session to "dumb down" the audience by passing out Pabst Blue Ribbons (aka PBRs) but to no avail. In the end, the score was the audience 10, Jody 6. Better luck next year, Jody.
