Remote Deployment

Release Software Enterprise Wide

Updating software, releasing new printers and documents, and applying security updates on every computer on your network is a time consuming task that needs to be done multiple times per year. Remote deployment solutions reduce the time it takes by automating the distribution.

Schedules

  • Casper allows you to schedule your releases in "off" hours to minimize impact on your end users' productivity. Only in emergencies would you want to push software while your users are working. In addition to the ability to release software after hours, Casper gives you the option of caching software locally on users' machines, therefore allowing for instant activation at your discretion while remaining invisible to end users. This is particularly useful when users are being trained on new software applications and you only want the software in their hands after training.

Users and Homes

  • Casper allows you to populate individual or all user directories whether they are on a single partition, multiple local partitions or on remote server-based home directories. No matter how you configure your machines, Casper will be able to distribute any file to any user on any directory at any location.

Localize Traffic and Load Balance

  • The distribution architecture requires nothing more than a file share to add fail over and load balancing. Additional distribution points are set up and configured in less than five minutes on your network's existing servers. Your file share becomes a child of your JAMF Software Server (JSS) and packages are synced automatically. You can have as many distribution points as you need without making additional investments in hardware or licensing.

"I really can't imagine how we would have coped with our initial OS migration without the Casper Suite. As an added advantage, we now have a centralized approach to our environment and the ability to delegate to local site staff because of the straight-forward GUI."
