The Casper Suite: scale globally, speak locally.
Casper Suite 9 includes 100+ enhancements requested by the JAMF Nation, and introduces many new capabilities. Most significantly, we have added great ways to help you "scale globally and speak locally" and the ability to manage devices running iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks in your organization.
To help you get started, we've highlighted 5 things you may not know about Casper Suite 9. We've also collected a number of resources so you can begin planning your deployment today.
We think you're really going to enjoy working with the new Casper Suite, so let's get started!
Zero-day support. Updating with Apple.
Anticipation of new features in an Apple OS release creates tremendous user excitement, and many users want to upgrade immediately. The Casper Suite ensures your entire organization can make a seamless transition to new Apple operating systems such as iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks, and we are committed to supporting each new Apple OS upon release. Whether you're upgrading all the devices in your organization or end users are updating on their own in a BYOD program, you can confidently support your users on release day.
Language localization. Speak locally.
The JSS now has support for language localization, which means that Casper admins or the ever-expanding list of users with access to the JSS can read text in their native language. With Casper Suite 9, localized text can be displayed in the JSS in English, Spanish, French, German, and Simplified Chinese.
Site-based administrators. Share access.
Organizations that have multiple locations or departments can now provide full access to IT staff at each site, while maintaining one unified JSS for centralized control. For example, a school district can enable IT staff for each building, a university can enable IT staff for each department, or a global business can designate IT staff for each line of business.
With site-based administrator privileges, staff in one department can be granted full management access, while ensuring that they do not inadvertently affect changes in another department.
JAMF Distribution Server (JDS). Scale globally.
A JAMF Distribution Server (JDS) instance is a distribution server that is managed by the JAMF Software Server (JSS), similar to a computer or mobile device. Your organization can install as many JDS instances as you require, hosting content including packages, in-house apps, and in-house eBooks. JDS technology provides a quick, efficient way to sync your content across the globe and scale infinitely, while localizing bandwidth and saving disk usage and overhead costs.
Cloud distribution network. JSS in the cloud.
Many organizations are migrating from hosting server infrastructure in their own internal data centers to cloud-based models. If your organization is moving to the cloud, Casper Suite 9 enables you to use cloud services to host your JSS and JAMF Distribution Servers. Using cloud services can reduce costs, speed transfer times, and help with distributed deployments. Now, it is also much simpler and faster to set up.
And if you're interested in moving your JSS to the cloud but do not have the time or expertise to set up your own cloud infrastructure, we can host it for you with our cloud-based hosted JSS offering.
