Installing Adobe CS4 Products with Casper Suite 6.01

Prior to Casper Suite 7.0, Adobe CS4 Installers will need to be slightly modified for Casper Admin to recognize them and to enable Casper to deploy them. Note that this methodology is experimental and that CS4 installs are not currently supported by the Casper Suite.

1. Start by creating a read/write DMG of the Adobe Installer discs or obtaining a DMG from Adobe's License Management (ALM) site. If the installation spans across multiple discs, you will need to create a single DMG that contains the payloads/extensions from all the discs.
For assistance in creating a DMG of a single disc Adobe Installer, please see the section of the Casper Suite Documentation titled "Adding a DMG of an Adobe Installer DVD"
For assistance in creating a DMG for an Adobe Install that spans across multiple discs, please see the support KB article at:

2. Ensure that the DMG of the Adobe Installer is a Read/Write disk image so you can make changes to the structure of the DMG. If the DMG is already in the read/write format, proceed to step 3. If the DMG is not in the read/write format, use Disk Utility to convert it.

To convert a DMG to the read/write format:
       a.  Launch Disk Utility from Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
       b.  Click the "Convert" button in Disk Utility's toolbar
       c.  Navigate to your Read-Only Adobe DMG and click the "Convert" button
       d. Choose a location where you want your writable DMG to save, and select "Read/Write" for "Image Format" and click the "Save" button.

3. Mount the Read/Write DMG and navigate to the "deployment" folder inside the Adobe Installer. Create a duplicate copy of the following files:
install-en_US.xml
uninstall-en_US.xml

4. Rename the copied files above as follows:
install-en_US copy.xml > install.xml
uninstall-en_US copy.xml > uninstall.xml

5. Convert the package back to Read-Only Compressed and continue on with the typical Adobe Installation process as stated in the section of the Casper Suite Documentation titled "Adding Adobe Installs/Updates".
